Another Year Coming To Its End

As another year comes to an end we tend to reflect on the things we have learned throughout the year, and think about what we can do better for the next. I would first like to give thanks. Thanks to those of you that have supported EPH not only this past year but continually year after year we can't do this without you and for that we truly thank you!

One of the hardest lessons to learn not just in work but in life is perhaps how to be more humble. This year I have learned more than ever that even on the toughest of days you have to keep a smile on your face. You can't let daily struggles effect your horses, clients, or how you conduct business. There are days where you get dumped in the dirt and wonder if maybe there are holes in your training program, days where you can't ride due to rain and you now feel days behind everyone else, or days where you question if your good enough to be a good competitor. These are the days that I struggle to not project what I feel as inadequacy on to others. We as trainers have to remember that it's not our clients fault; it's not our horses fault when days are tough. Remembering that projecting the persona of the person we want to be, while still attempting to be authentic is a tall order, it's one that will help us strive to be the best version of ourselves for not just self growth but for the benefit of those around us. Staying humble everyday and putting ego aside can be challenging, but it will create open and honest relationships between your horses and their owners.
